10/13 SF Walk for Farm Animals - Join our Team
|
|
Many animals raised for food cannot walk. Chickens who lay eggs are crammed into cages so small that they don't have space to lift their one wing, much less walk. Pigs and veal calves are confined in narrow pens.
Let us walk for those who can't.
The SF Walk for Farm Animals helps fund Farm Sanctuary’s rescue and protection campaigns. "Animals are Friends, not Food" is the team name for Bay Area Vegetarians. If you can't walk with us on that date, then show your support with a donation! Your sponsorship of any participants in the walk would be gratefully appreciated.
All funds go directly to Farm Sanctuary (Bay Area Vegetarians is participating as a team in the event; we do not receive any funding from this effort.)

The Silicon Valley Lunch, hosted by Chris, BAVeg co-founder and webmaster, will lunch at selected vegetarian restaurants. The inaugural lunch is this Thursday 9/20 at Merit Vegetarian, a very new Sunnyvale restaurant featuring Vietnamese cuisine, including faux meat as well as vegetable-based entrees. Future locations could include Garden Fresh and Kokila's.
Sharon's first dinner at Fragrance Land in Cupertino is Thursday 9/27. Fragrance Land is a new Chinese vegetarian restaurant. It gets high marks from early reviewers: "Highly recommended", "Very nice people & really good food", and "We're in heaven. We loved it". So join Sharon and BAVeg and check it out!
And, please support our pretty new East Bay event, the 3rd Sunday dinner at Central Vegetarian in Alameda on 9/23. This is Mike's first time hosting so let's give him our thanks & support!

9/22 Native Garden Vegan Food Party
|
Join us Saturday 9/22 to celebrate the last day of summer at Bay Area Vegetarians' Native Garden Vegan Food Party in Pacifica (10 minutes south of SF). Vegan Food Parties are designed for like-minded individuals to share good food and conversations. The emphasis is on preparing your favorite vegan dishes to share, or you can be bold and "animal test" your new recipe on hungry volunteers.
Ann and Reeba will be hosting it in their native plant garden in Pacifica from noon to 4 pm. Please RSVP for address. There's also a possibility of hiking at nearby San Pedro Park afterwards. And, as with all of our events, everyone is welcome, both veg & non-veg.
Whether you love looking at plants, or you love eating edible plants, this is the VFP for you!

Merit Vegetarian, a Vietnamese restaurant, is now open for business in Sunnyvale. If you love the variety of faux-meats and vegetable entrees featured at Golden Era/Lotus, you'll also enjoy Merit which is incredibly similar style (and reportedly in the same family). Chris is hosting a lunch there on Thursday.
