Ugh. The good is that the food is okay, but the sauces are two sweet. They have a few dishes with gluten, so that's a bonus for the area it's in. A definite draw back is the price--veg dishes are $10-$11, before rice and such. The ugly is how rude the proprietress was to us when we asked that we be charged the listed menu prices instead of an unlisted $1 increase per each item.

This is the first time, I can ask for a VEGAN thail. I chose the $8 thail.
Even though it's supposed to be a cheap snack place/fast food Indian Joint, the prices are the same.
The worse thing about this place is they use stryofoam plates and plastic utensils. The best part is you get to try all their snacks before you buy them. Unfortunately most of the vegan snacks are fried flou

Wonderful vegan pizza available! Thoroughly enjoyed the flexibility to order vegan pizza by the slice, and to have different toppings on each slice. The three slices were hugely filling, ample toppings and right amount of tomato sauce/tofu ricotta cheese. Easy transit, too - 1 block from BART. See my longer review & photos on my blog

What a neat concept. They don't use ghee in any of their items, but if vegan, request no yogurt. I had a tasty concoction of spinach, collard greens and tofu over basmati rice with sides of chutney and chickpeas. Food is either served in a whole wheat wrap (sort of like naan) or on a metal plate. There are a few indoor as well as outdoor tables. Couple of veggie options. Great spicy papadum.

The food at Burma Superstar is amazing. I ate and loved things I would never imagine eating (vegan of course). I highly recommend the tea leaf salad (mixed at your table). The vegetarian samusa soup is the best soup I have ever had. Chunks of samusas, falafels, lentils, veggies and spices. Pea shoots were phenomenal. Highly recommended, but get there early as it gets packed with long waits.

Recently discovered this little gem. They have several vegetarian and vegan options. They identify which beans are vegetarian (whole black beans and refried black beans). Rice is vegetarian. For burrito filings, they have a chili verde tofu (amazing), grilled veggies or wild mushrooms. Selection of tortillas. You can even order a "baby burrito" when you want something smaller. Not 100% veg*n

Large selection of seitan sandwiches. I like the bell pepper and mushroom. If vegan, need to request no mayo and no cheese. Unfortunately, they don't have vegenaise or soy cheese, but keeping my fingers crossed that someday they will. Great sandwich if you're really hungry, very filling.

Vegan calzone is huge (and delicious), it definitely feeds two. Tons of fresh gooey vegan ricotta and sauce. My only wish was that it had more veggies, but will request a few add-ins next time.

Celebrated my birthday with a romantic weekend at the Stanford Inn. Breathtaking views from our balcony. Lovely walks through the gardens. Cozy, natural rooms, each with a fireplace. Special treats (cookies, candies) left in your room each day. Inn staff was very friendly. 24-hour access to their pool and hot tub. Got to spend some time with a few Llamas. Short walk to Mendocino village.

Went to the Stanford Inn this weekend and had a few meals at Raven's. The dinners were amazing. Fresh organic produce from their gardens. Innovative creations. All dinner selections are vegan. Most breakfast items are vegan, with a few vegetarian choices. I loved their breakfast waffle with fresh berry compote. Best waffle I've ever had! Can't wait to go back and use my Raven's cookbook!

Went to Millennium for my birthday last week and was very impressed, as usual. They were offering the Summer Solstice menu, which consisted of four amazing and luxurious courses. I had the tamale entree and it was incredible. The dessert was a coconut cream and blueberry compote parfait, which melts in your mouth. Cucumber margarita was a surprisingly tasty treat.

Mysore Masala Dosa was delicious. Waitstaff is really helpful in identifying which items are vegan (or can be made vegan). They have a large selection of vegan options. Only complaint is that they serve meat (so four stars instead of 5).

Great selection of vegan sandwiches (any of their sandwiches can be made vegan). Only a few tables outside (and no space inside), so either go there before the lunch rush or take it to go. The vegan meatball sandwich is AMAZING. Plus, you get a vegan lollipop with every sandwich :)

I have visited this restaurant twice, and both times I was served food part cold. How hard is it to operate a microwave. I think they need to try a little better.

Had Builder Bowl--you pick your grain, veggies, protein (tofu, seitan, lentils, etc., & dressing. Not bad--tasty. When I ordered a mixed juice, I was told they were out of kale. In fact there was plenty of kale in the produce case. She meant there was no pre-juiced kale in bottles in the fridge, where all the juices stored to mix per customer order. Restaurant not as squeaky clean as I'd like.

I am not a big fan of faux meats or I would give Happy Bamboo a 5. The vegetable pho is my favorite- I could have it everyday and not grow tired of it. Delicious!

Great to have a vegan restaurant in a gorgeous spot in my favorite little hamlet - Point Richmond. The interior is elegant and the furniture suberb. The staff was gracious and right there when you needed them. The menu had all my favorites. As a group we ordered many dishes and so i sampled all their goodies. I liked it. I'd go back. In fact I might go back soon. Wait til the plunge reopens!

At the Clement St. location they carry Vegan Gourmet Follow Your Heart Cheese, but you have to be very specific and ask for the the Vegan Gourmet cheese (not their Trader Joe's Soy Cheese that contains casein). The best time to go is at lunch for their $7.50-$8.50 lunch special that includes: House Salad with tons of fresh veggies, Personal Pizza and soda/Juice Squeeze or home brewed beer. YUM.

Veg confession--I don't get the whole falafel thing. They don't offended me, but I never go out of my way for them. My recently converted husband however delares them "best veg*n food ever," so we had to try this place. Fries were great and I LOVED the toppings bar. The zhug sauce was off the hook. Falafel was okay, but for me I'll get the make your owl salad with toppings bar.

I highly recommend the "vegan burrito". It's has a tahini-based sauce with veggies and beans. Have been enjoying it for several years (my previous review was dated 2004). There's other vegan items on the menu but I always order this. Currently $5.50

I had a nice snack here on the weekend. They have an extensive menu considering the small location. While there is no seating in the store itself there is ample shared seating just 5 feet away. When I was there it looked like they were attracting a non-veg crowd looking for variety; I wish them luck. [It wasn't on mall map then, but just go to Sprint and T-Mobile shops and you are there.]

Agree with previous reviews. The "chicken" was pretty good, better than other fake meats I've had. Sauce was a bit mild though.

There's a new vegan menu, almost as long as the laco-veg menu! Good selections. Cheeseless. One want to try that doesn't travel well w/arugula & pine nuts. Mushroom+ one and olive ones good. Organic & they drizzle olive oil on the pizzas AFTER they're out of the oven. Not pizza I'm used to: more like pizza crust with toppings open sandwiches. Good vegan soup. Owner very nice.

Excellent raw food options, at $6-$7 per entree - or better yet sample 3 for $7.50. I had sushi, pad thai and a salad and liked them all. Also available is a lasagne (not available on sampler). Raw gazpacho soup was also very good. Better to get there before noon or maybe after 1pm on weekdays to avoid the rush. First Thursday of the month the Berkeley Art Museum is free (not worth $$).

I just had a 2nd great lunch here; 2 friends liked it too. They have a wide selection of savory vegetable-based toppings for your falafel, all of which are vegan, 3 vegan sauces for your falafel as well (e.g. Tahini), and 6 fries toppings (of which Saffron Aioli and Med. Pesto are not vegan). I highly recommend this place for a savory and healthy meal. The menu now lists which items are vegan!
