Vegi Garden (Sunnyvale) closed

Vegi Garden, an all vegetarian Chinese restaurant in Sunnyvale, is now closed. This was one of the few veg restaurants serving dim sum.

Sunnyvale currently has 10 vegetarian restaurants now.

South Bay dominates UG Top Ten

The Ultimate Guide Top Ten is based on user ratings from BAVeg members and the general public.  Merit Vegetarian (Sunnyvale) and Happy Bamboo (San Jose) are the newest additions to the Ultimate Guide Top Ten.

The South Bay now dominates with 70% of the Top Ten restaurants to the East Bay’s 30% with 0% to San Francisco, which has 20 vegetarian restaurants within its city limits. Read the rest of this entry »

Loving Hut (Palo Alto, SF)

Loving Hut, which describes itself as international fast food, opened its first Bay Area restaurant in Milpitas in July. They held their Grand Opening for the second restaurant opening in Palo Alto on Saturday, October 4th, and the Grand Opening for its 3rd location in San Francisco’s Chinatown is next weekend, Saturday October 11th.  The activities include a lion dance at 11 a.m.

Once Loving Hut opens its SF location, it will join Lucky Creation as the second vegetarian restaurant in Chinatown.

Karma (SF)

The Bay Area is now home to a vegetarian Himalayan fusion restaurant, Karma, in the Richmond district of San Francisco.  After several recent closures of veg restaurants in SF, it’s great to welcome KARMA to the Bay Area.  They opened on Sept. 8th, and are a small restaurant with very limited seating inside and a bench outside.  Their focus is primarily on takeout.

Alex and Jack to wed at KFC Canada

Congratulations to fellow BAVeg members, Alex* and Jack!

Vegan PETA member Alex Bury and her fiancé Jack Norris are set to say their vows on Sept. 11, where guests will be invited afterward to feast on platters of the restaurant’s new soy-based, mock-chicken Classic Vegetarian Sandwich
