Compassion in action

Nearly 10k people reached in first quarter of outreach for 2015 .  Thanks to our team, at right, who spent many hours standing up for animals by raising awareness of factory farming and distributing information promoting eating vegan. And natural — and vegan — Vitamin D was an added benefit.  If you’d like to join us in standing up for the animals, please let us know.  Volunteers are always welcome and no previous experience is necessary.

Our second quarter 2015 is off to a good start. The Vallejo Farmer’s Market is a popular, year-round market, a great place to connect with others interested in eating plants.   Over 600 shoppers received information this past weekend.  An added bonus: we’re getting to meet local Vallejo vegans, like Black Belt Champion Everett Robinson, shown here with volunteer Jenna.  Everett told us last month that he’s been vegan since he was a teen.  #veganvallejo

Running FOR the animals

And, he’s not the only athlete in the photo.  Jenna is running for the animals, literally.  She’s training for a 52 mile marathon to benefit the animals who have found sanctuary at Animal Place in Grass Valley. Learn why she’s running and how you can support her by visiting her fundraising page.

We simply cannot talk about our outreach efforts without thanking Farm Animal Reform Movement and Vegan Outreach for their generosity in supplying us with leaflets.

Getting ready for the book club!

We’re getting ready for our next Book Club meeting on Thursday, April 30th at the Vallejo Bookstore to discuss The World Peace Diet by Will Tuttle, Ph.D.   It’s full of insights by Dr. Tuttle and inspiring in its choice of quotes by others.

“Compassion is ethical intelligence: it is the capacity to make connections and the consequent urge to act to relieve the suffering of others.” – Will Tuttle, Ph.D

“Earth provides enough to satisfy every man’s need, but not every man’s greed.” –Mahatma Gandhi

We will take your unwanted vegan books!

If you have unwanted or underused books related to veganism, animal rights, or vegan cookbooks, please consider donating them to us for our BAVeg Book Shelf!  We have a shelf for vegan books at the Vallejo Yoga studio that we make available to the community.  You can bring book donations to any of the BAVeg Vegan Food Party events, or BAVeg Outreach events.  We will also accept periodicals if they are recent and in good condition.
