Colin Campbell.  If you&#8217;ve ever wanted to learn more about all the great reasons to adopt a plant-based diet, this is a must read book &#8212; for yourself, your family, your friends.  <\/p>\n<p>Just in the first 25 pages, there are nuggets of info that promise this going to be an engaging book to read and digest the facts it contains.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; The United States pays more for health care than any other country in the world.<br \/>\n&#8211; According to the American Cancer Society, men have 47% chance of getting cancer; women have a 38% chance.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; One in 13 Americans has diabetes (p. 14), which can lead to blindness, limb amputation, cardiovascular disease, kidney disease, &amp; premature death<br \/>\n&#8211; Heart disease kills 1 in 3 Americans (p. 15)<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; &#8220;The answer to the American health crisis is the food that each of us chooses to put in our mouths each day.&#8221;<br \/>\n&#8211; &#8220;In short, it is about the multiple health benefits of consuming plant-based foods, and the largely unappreciated health dangers of consuming animal-based foods, including all types of meat, dairy and eggs.&#8221;<br \/>\n&#8211; &#8220;Impressive evidence now exists to show that advanced heart disease, relatively advanced cancers of certain types, diabetes and a few other degenerative diseases can be reversed by diet.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>What:<\/strong> Book Discussion: The China Study<\/p>\n<p><strong>Where: <\/strong>SF &#8211; MaggieMudd in Bernal Heights<br \/>\n<strong>When:<\/strong> 5\/6\/07 Sunday, 3:00 pm<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bayareaveg.org\/rsvp.htm?id=1467\">Questions\/RSVP<\/a> |<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bayareaveg.org\/events.php?EID=1467#1467\">Event Details<\/a><\/p>\n<p>After The China Study, July&#8217;s book discussion will be <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/redirect?tag=bayareavegeta-20&amp;path=ASIN\/1930051220\">Free the Animals<\/a> by Ingrid Newkirk .
