{"id":1416,"date":"2018-02-17T11:05:03","date_gmt":"2018-02-17T16:05:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bayareaveg.org\/blog\/?p=1416"},"modified":"2018-02-17T15:21:50","modified_gmt":"2018-02-17T20:21:50","slug":"vegan-restaurant-campaign","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bayareaveg.org\/blog\/2018\/02\/17\/vegan-restaurant-campaign\/","title":{"rendered":"Vegan Restaurant Campaign #vrcns"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There are so many of us who have been working in various ways to promote veganism and vegan foods locally.\u00a0 \u00a0Yet, there is not a single vegan restaurant in the entire Napa and Solano county;\u00a0many of us regularly drive 30 to 60 minutes plus to dine at a vegan restaurant.\u00a0 Collaborating together will magnify our individual efforts, and hopefully, one day, we&#8217;ll have a vegan restaurant.<\/p>\n<p>Some may ask, why do we want to dine at an all-vegan restaurant when there are\u00a0nearby restaurants with vegan choices?<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>A vegan or entirely plant-based restaurant\u00a0can be a better dining experience\n<ol>\n<li>Provides a\u00a0a larger selection to\u00a0<em>choose<\/em> from, versus the single vegan item available, or choosing an item and having to order it without\u00a0meat\/dairy<\/li>\n<li>There\u2019s no risk of allergen contamination\u00a0from non-vegan foods<\/li>\n<li>There\u2019s no cues (visual or aromatic) of animal flesh or animal products<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>Our dining dollars are not supporting an establishment that profits from the suffering &amp; slaughter of sentient beings<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Yet, given the lack of vegetarian restaurants in the county, or even a smaller endeavors like food trucks, it\u2019s a big move for a vegan restaurant to open.<\/p>\n<p>To lay the groundwork for a vegan restaurant to open, we need to create a business climate where vegan foods are seen as profitable.\u00a0 Once we demonstrate that there IS a demand for vegan foods, then someone will eventually exploit that opportunity and open an all-vegan restaurant. (We\u2019re already seeing that explosion with prepared foods.\u00a0 Ben &amp; Jerry\u2019s now has 9 vegan flavors, Haagen Daz and Breyers have vegan flavors too.)<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Creating a Vegan Business Climate<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We need as many current restaurants to offer a Vegan Menu or vegan items on their current menu.<\/li>\n<li>We support the restaurants, by dining vegan at them and encouraging with positive or constructive feedback as needed, so that they are successful for the restaurant and the diners<\/li>\n<li>We need to promote those restaurants are and communicate that to the people who are looking for vegan dining options.<\/li>\n<li>We need to increase awareness of our growing vegan community with the public, so that a business owner wants to target our area with a vegan restaurant (or vegan menu)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>Are you ready to act?\u00a0<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong><em>Never doubt that a small gr<\/em><em>oup<\/em><\/strong><em><strong>\u00a0of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world;
