Here's one for you all.
I'm having a hard time finding a vegan anti-dandruff shampoo that works. I've tried a few, includng Aubrey Organics, but they really don't work.
My dermatologist recommended a few zinc based one's, but I'm sure the companies test on animals.
I have copies of both NAVS: Personal Care For People Who Care and VIVA's Vegan Basics and have tried to figure out which "REGULAR" anti-dandruff shampoos available at RiteAid, Safeway's etc are not tested on animals AND do not contain animal ingredients.
I've managed to figure out using the NAVS book which companies do not test, but drawn a blank when it comes to animal ingredients. The list is long so I feel daunted from writing every one of these manufacturers to try and get an answer.
I'm hoping someone here can help me - short of just living with it.

I use Nature's Gate Rainwater Herbal Tea Tree Oil shampoo by Levlad, and it works well for me. The one questionable ingredient is Panthenol, but I have called the 800 number and have been told the source is plant-based. The company does not test on animals, and maintains an environmentally friendly philosophy. I know it's available at Whole Foods.
If you go to http://www.caringconsumer.com/c-free.asp, PETA will send you information about which companies do and do not test on animals, as well as let you know which companies carry specifically vegan product lines.
