My hubby and I are wanting to get away August 11-13. I'd like to go somewhere where there are:
many vegan friendly food options
where we can camp out, rent a log cabin, or economical room
somewhere in nature
We live in the bay area and are open to drive up to 3 hours.
Any suggestions? We're debating taking our 3 dogs with us. He's rather not, I'd rather!! ) _________________ Meghann

Meghann,
With our dogs we always try to go to forest service campgrounds because the rules there allow them to be with us at all times unlike State and national Parks. Mendocino Nat. Forest is close by. We enjoy going to the Eel river above Upper Lake. That's good if you have 4 wheel drive. Lower Nye Camp is always deserted. We also like to rent places along the russian river that are dog friendly and take the dogs to the Sonoma Coast (on leash)
Perhaps try the walk-in camp down near Big Sur if you are going w/o the dogs
A good Gold Country Locale is Volcano. Go caving nearby!
The dog friendly books are good guides.
And craig's list vacation rentals
email me if you want additional places and or ideas. We also have three dogs!!
