Hi -
I'm new here. I heard about BAV from a mention on the radio. I am 41 and recognize that I am addicted to eating meat. I cannot quit any time. I love a juicy steak. When I go to a restaurant with friends I always think about ordering a veggie alternative but then I find myself seduced by the delicious carnivore choices.
I am hoping that by surrounding myself with vegetarians and being in a more veg friendly environment I will have a better shot at a healthier and more compassionate existence.
I am currently living in Marin and am in SF all the time - from your calendar it looks like the next dining event near me is lunch on Tues 8/23? Hope to make that & to the extent any of you can support/mentor me in making this transition I very much appreciate your help!
Thanks, Andrew |

| My mistake - looks like next meal near me is sat. 8/20 - I can't make that, that means...next veg meal event in Marin/SF is 8/26 - see you there I hope! |

Hey Andrew,
Looking forward to meeting you at one of the many Bay Area Veg events. There's lots of really great people in this group and I'm sure you'll have fun and feel very supported when you attend the events. May I also suggest getting some books on the topic and/or watching some videos. The more you learn about the topic of veganism and how meat and dairy affect your health, animals and the environment the easier it is to stay on track. Some excellent books are Diet For A New America by John Robbins and Animal Liberation by Peter Singer. There are many great videos/DVDs as well including Peaceable Kingdom and Eating. You can find these at Amazon.com or Peta.org or Farmsanctuary.org or at Otsu, a vegan boutique on 16th street in San Francisco. Take care and We'll see you soon.
