|Currently, our mentors offer advice and coaching in this forum. On Sunday, 8/21, we'll have our first meeting where
1) volunteers can meet to support the Veggie Mentor Program,
2) folks needing support from the program can meet to discuss, in a supportive, friendly environment, the challenges that they face in their veg*n path.
When: 8/21/05 Sunday, 1:30-2:30 and 2:45 to 4:00
Where: SF Main Library (Civic Center)
Host: Tammy and Chris
Full Details: http://www.bayareaveg.org/events.php?EID=958#958
About the meeting hosts:
Tammy and Chris are the co-founders of Bay Area Vegetarians. They weren't born vegan, but they learned. Combined, they have over 25 years of experience living as vegetarians and dealing with issues and topics related to family, friends, and the workplace.
They started the Veggie Mentor Program to be a supportive community for aspiring veg*ns. They believe a vegan diet is the most compassionate lifestyle available, but they are advocates of any reductions people can make in reducing their consumption of animal products.
About the meeting:
1:30 to 2:30: Discuss strategies to increase awareness and use of the Veggie Mentor program. We have an open position for Veggie Mentor Program manager.
2:45 to 4:00: Support group meeting for people who would like to connect in person with others transitioning to veg*nism, and share/discuss concerns in a supportive style with like-minded folks.
Meeting location: SF Main Library, 100 Larkin Street (at Grove Street).
Please enter at the Grove street entrance. Our conference room is located on the 1st floor behind the information desk. Easy access by bus or Civic Center BART. Street parking.
Space is limited so please RSVP if you're interested, and let us know what you're particular interests are.
