Overview

Bay Area Vegetarians is dedicated to supporting and promoting the local vegetarian and animal rights community.

This new program provides a support network to folks who have already made the decision that they want to be vegan/vegetarian, but have questions or just want to connect with others who are also making the same transition.

Folks enrolled in the Mentor Program will receive:

- Encouragement/support for healthier and more compassionate food choices
- Information on vegetarian nutrition and wise food choices
- Help or advice on dealing with family and friends
- Cooking & shopping tips
- Advice on being veg at work
- Tips on eating out at restaurants
- Practical information on living vegetarian
- Info on how to connect further with the vegetarian and animal rights community
- Resources to learn more about vegetarianism and animal rights
- Learn more about reasons for vegetarianism: animal rights, factory farming, environment, health

New, aspiring, or lapsed vegetarians/vegans are welcome. There is no monetary cost to enroll or participate in the program. We merely ask that you are sincere and diligent in your motivations to adopt a plant-based diet.

Your level of participation depends on you -- you can ask questions in the forum, add your voice to the ongoing discussions or take a quiet er approach and merely browse the forum.

How it works

Simply register in the forum. Hint: In your profile, select YES for 'Always notify me of replies'

Then return to to this "Mentor/Support Program" forum. Maybe post an introduction and start to connect with our mentors and other new veggies.

Decide if you want to periodically browse the forum for new discussions, or if you'd like email notification of new posts. For the latter, select this link "Start watching this forum"; everytime a new post is made, you will receive an email notification.

When you have a question, select ask your question, and see what the mentors as well as other folks have to say.
