Traditional Injera bread made with Teff, not white flour. Kaffa's Injera has a mild sourdough tang, and a rich taste. The plate of vegetables and legumes was great, lightly cooked, which preserved the flavors. A little spicy, and not oily. The Sambusa pastry with potato filling was not as interesting as the plate, and more oily. The Telba flax smoothie was very good, mildly sweet, flavorful.
Very vegan-friendly. Of 68 main dishes & appetizers, 66 are vegan; other 2 use egg. Of 3 desserts, 1 is vegan, mango sticky rice. Carrot juice, soy milk. We had kabocha squash curry & vegetable soup. Tasty & fresh, Thai herbs, spicy, not too oily or salty, yum. Brown rice or white; brown rice mix w Thai black rice. Service friendly & fast. Quiet enough to have a conversation. Modern art on walls.
I called them with questions. A waitress said they don't use fish sauce, shrimp paste, or any other ingredients from animals, and they never used those in the past. She heard that some customers say they used those things, she doesn't know why they say that. I don't know what to think now. It's hard to sort this out.
Inexpensive, informal, friendly. Plenty of seating. A large round table fits 6-8 people. Good savory flavors. Some spicy dishes. All vegan. Plenty of vegetables, not just tofu and gluten. No fake meats. Brown rice is available.
Wonton Soup has very tasty mushroom broth. Lohan Jai in Pot has an interesting variety of flavors and textures. Pot Stickers, Mu Shu Vegetables, Seaweed Soup are good.
Vegan & vegetarian pizzas only. Only animal-related ingredient: cheese on vegetarian pizza. More vegan pizzas listed on the menu than cheese pizzas. Vegan cheese, 6 vegan meats, more than 3 dozen vegan toppings including many vegetables. Vegan ice cream, vegan cones. Small, no ambience, clean, quiet enough to have a conversation. Dine in, take out, free delivery.
All vegan. Nearly 50 dishes, including many spicy ones. No garlic or onions. Low prices. Some of the best Chinese vegan food I've ever had. Not heavy or greasy. Staffed by Buddhist monastics and laypeople, all with great vibes, friendly smiles. Early closing time is to accomodate monk/nun schedules. They're not strict about the 3pm close. Buddhist books in restaurant. Nice beads in bookstore.
