Description below, photographs from our first hike there are available in the photo gallery=0D=0A=0D=0AThe Purisima Creek Redwoods Open Space Preserve is located on the western slopes of the Santa Cruz Mountains overlooking Half Moon Bay. The preserve was established with a gift of $2 million from the Save-the-Redwoods League. The centerpiece of this 3,360-acre preserve is Purisima Creek Canyon, with its towering redwoods, rushing creek, and understory of ferns, berries, and wildflowers.=0D=0A=0D=0AThe featured hike:  "Purisima Creek, Soda Gulch, and Harkins Ridge Loop"=0D=0A=0D=0AFrom bahiker.com=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0A7 mile loop captures the best of this preserve -- redwoods, creek, chaparral, and great views.=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0ADistance and difficulty:=0D=0A=0D=0AThis 7 mile loop hike is moderate, due to the elevation changes. You can create shorter out-and-back hikes that are easier. Trailhead elevation is around 400 feet, while the highest (trail) elevation in the park is just over 2000 feet.
