This effort asks congress to help schools provide vegetables, fruits, grains, legumes, vegetarian foods, and healthful non-dairy beverages in school meal programs in The Child Nutrition and WIC Reauthorization Act of 2009.=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0AConstituents of the 9th congressional district of California are meeting at Hudson Bay Cafe (5401 College Ave in Oakland)  to write letters to our representative Barbara Lee asking for healthier school lunch options in the National School Lunch Program.=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0AThe NSLP feeds 28 million students a day, and the fact that we are feeding these kids high-calorie nutrient-deficient foods that contribute to heart disease, diabetes, and other diseases tied to diet is simply unacceptable.=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0AWe are calling on congress to help our schools provide vegetables, fruits, legumes, grains, vegetarian foods, and healthful nondairy beverages in school meal programs in The Child Nutrition and WIC Reauthorization Act of 2009.=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0APaper, Pens, Envelopes, and Sample Letters will be provided at the event.
