SUMMARY:Veg Outreach & Education at Maker Faire - San Mateo County Fairgrounds
DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE: Please visit Bay Area Vegetarians event calendar for more information or updates on this and other vegetarian and animal rights events.=0D=0A=0D=0Ahttp://www.bayareaveg.org/events.php#2137 =0D=0A=0D=0AHost: Tammy=0D=0A=0D=0ANotes:=0D=0A=0D=0ABay Area Vegetarians has an opportunity to table at a wonderful event called Maker Faire and we need YOUR help to make that happen. "Maker Faire is a two-day, family-friendly event that celebrates the Do-It-Yourself (DIY) mindset. It’s for creative, resourceful people of all ages and backgrounds who like to tinker and love to make things." =0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0AMore Photos=0D=0A=0D=0A(l to r) Leafleting R2-D2, BAVeg booth & volunteers, Maker Faire attendee reading her new Vegetarian Starter Kit=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0ADuring leafleting at the 2008 Maker Faire in San Mateo., 749 people and one astromech received information about delicious vegan recipes, plant-based nutrition, and the revealing truth of the modern day animal factory farms.=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0AHundreds more stopped by our booth to say hello, ask questions about vegan protein sources, egg and dairy substitutes, get vegan recipes, learn the truth about “humane” meat, eggs & dairy, and simply learn more about a compassionate and cruelty-free lifestyle. [ read more about last year's booth ]=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0AAll volunteer shifts will be confirmed with the organizer's cell phone #. Staffing will be based on volunteer interests and experience level). We will have 2 to 3 people a the booth at all times, aiming for a good mix of people who are new to outreach to those who are more experienced.=0D=0A=0D=0AAfternoon shifts: Based on last year's experience, there was extremely congested traffic leading to the fairgrounds in the afternoon, causing big traffic delays (and impacting volunteers trying to reach us for their shift). We strongly encourage and would like volunteers who are interested in coming for the day or at least least 2 hours before their shift. Of course, you can use any extra time before your shift to visit the Faire; this just allows us to have good staffing at the booth at all times. Just come for the day :-) !=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0ALoading...=0D=0A=0D=0APlease note, all information supplied in the form will be kept strictly confidential and used only for booth volunteering. For shifts labeled as tabling / leafleting, we'd like someone who is comfortable leafleting as well as staffing the booth, based on where we need your help.=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0AAnd, truly, you don't need any previous experience to volunteer -- I didn't have any at my first tabling activity at Earth Day in 1990. All you need is a willingness to share information about veg*nism that will indeed change lives. =0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0ABay Area Veg will have many more outreach and education opportunities throughout the spring and summer. Please email me if you have ideas or suggestions, or would like to be more closely involved in planning them.=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0A...................................................................................................................................................................................................................................=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0AThere are billions of good reasons to promote a plant-based diet, just ask our animal friends at Animal Place, a sanctuary for rescued and abused farmed animals=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0A
